How Halfstone works

Your policies go in once. After that Halfstone keeps the dates, sends a heads-up before each renewal, and lines up the new term against the old one so you can see what changed.

Three steps: add, get a heads-up, review

Open a step to see the lines it uses.

  1. Add a declarations page

Upload the declarations page, the summary sheet at the front of each policy, or type in the key numbers yourself. Typing takes a few minutes per policy.

What Halfstone reads off the page
    ExampleDeclarations page, auto policy
    Premium
    $1,390 for 12 months
The price of the term, and whether it is paid at once or in installments.
    Policy period
    Mar 14, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027
The start and end dates. The end date is the renewal date your reminder counts down to.
    Deductibles
    Collision $1,000, comprehensive $500
Each one by name, including a wind or hail deductible written as a percentage.
    Limits
    Bodily injury $100,000 / $300,000
Every limit as the page states it, per person, per accident, or per claim.
    Endorsements
    Roadside assistance, included
The add-ons listed on the page, so one that disappears next term shows as a change.
    Named insureds
    Two adults, one household
The people the policy covers by name, as printed on the page.
    Vehicles or property
    2019 sedan, 2022 SUV
The cars on an auto policy, or the address on a home, renters, or condo policy.

Example numbers. Halfstone reads the same lines off your own pages.

  2. Get a heads-up

Halfstone takes the renewal date from the policy period and sends a reminder well before it, with time to read the new packet before it takes effect.

The line the reminder comes from
    ExampleDeclarations page, auto policy
    Policy period
    Mar 14, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027
The start and end dates. The end date is the renewal date your reminder counts down to.

Example numbers. Halfstone reads the same lines off your own pages.

  3. Review the renewal

When the new declarations page arrives, add it. This term sits next to last term, line by line, and every line that moved is marked.

    The lines the Review compares
    ExampleDeclarations page, auto policy
    Premium
    $1,390 for 12 months
The price of the term, and whether it is paid at once or in installments.
    Deductibles
    Collision $1,000, comprehensive $500
Each one by name, including a wind or hail deductible written as a percentage.
    Limits
    Bodily injury $100,000 / $300,000
Every limit as the page states it, per person, per accident, or per claim.
    Endorsements
    Roadside assistance, included
The add-ons listed on the page, so one that disappears next term shows as a change.
    Named insureds
    Two adults, one household
The people the policy covers by name, as printed on the page.
    Vehicles or property
    2019 sedan, 2022 SUV
The cars on an auto policy, or the address on a home, renters, or condo policy.

Example numbers. Halfstone reads the same lines off your own pages.

Adding your policies

Every personal policy a household carries has a declarations page. That page is all Halfstone needs.

Upload the page

A PDF from your carrier's site or a photo of the paper copy. Halfstone fills in the lines, and you check them before they are saved.

Type in the key numbers

Premium, deductibles, limits, and the policy period. Add endorsements and named insureds when you have the page in front of you.

Policies you can add

  • Auto
  • Home
  • Renters
  • Condo
  • Umbrella
  • Life
  • Pet

The household view

Every policy on one page: the premium, the deductible or limit that matters most for that policy, and the next renewal date. The one that renews next is marked. On Plus, a partner can sign in and see the same page.

Reminders before each renewal

A reminder goes out well before each policy renews. It comes by email, and also as a text for anyone who turned on Halfstone Account Alerts. It names the policy and the date. That leaves time to read the new packet, add the new page, and call your carrier with questions before the term starts.

The Renewal Review

Add the new declarations page and the Review puts this term beside last term. A premium that rose, a deductible that doubled, an endorsement that dropped off: each shows as a changed line, with a plain-English note on what the line means.

What happens to your documents

  • Used to show your policies to you

A declarations page is read so its lines can sit on your household view and in your Reviews. That is the only use.

  • Never shared with agents or carriers

No agent, broker, or carrier gets your documents, your name, or your numbers. Nobody calls you because you added a policy.

  • Never sold

Halfstone earns from subscriptions only. There are no referral fees or partner payments, so there is no one to sell your data to.

  • Yours to remove

Delete a policy or a document and it is removed from your account. How long anything is kept after an account closes is in the Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy spells out each of these in full.

Start with the policy that renews next

Free covers two policies, the household view, and renewal reminders.
