Welcome to Halfstone. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Halfstone website located at halfstone.com and all services offered through it. By accessing or using the website and services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the website or services.

2. Nature of Services

Halfstone is software that keeps a household's insurance policies in one place and shows what changed each time a policy renews.

It works with the personal insurance policies a household holds, such as auto, home, renters, condo, umbrella, life, and pet policies. You add a policy by uploading its declarations page or by typing in its key numbers. Halfstone then shows the premium, deductibles, limits, and renewal date for each policy you added on one household view, and sends you a reminder before each policy renews.

When a policy renews and you add the new declarations page, the Renewal Review places the new term next to the previous term, line by line, so you can see which figures changed. Each line carries a short, general note explaining what that kind of line usually means.

Halfstone offers a Free plan and a paid plan called Halfstone Plus. The features of each plan are listed on the pricing page.

Halfstone does not sell insurance, quote rates, refer you to agents or carriers, recommend a carrier or a coverage amount, or decide whether a loss is covered. Every decision about your insurance is yours and your carrier's.

Paid plans renew automatically until canceled. Prices are shown before you subscribe, and you can cancel at any time; access continues through the end of the period you paid for.

3. Services Disclaimer

Halfstone is not an insurance company, agent, broker, producer, or adjuster, and it is not licensed to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance in any state. Nothing on the website or in the service is insurance, legal, or financial advice.

Halfstone does not determine, and nothing it shows should be read as stating, whether a loss, claim, or event is covered by any policy. Coverage is decided by your insurance carrier under the terms of your policy.

Your carrier's policy documents, including the declarations page, policy form, and any endorsements, are the controlling record of your coverage. If anything Halfstone shows differs from those documents, the carrier's documents control.

The notes Halfstone shows next to policy lines are general explanations of common insurance terms. They are not a reading of your specific policy and are not a recommendation to keep, change, add, or drop any coverage. For questions about your coverage, contact your carrier or a licensed insurance professional.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

The Free plan costs $0 and includes up to two policies, the household view, and renewal reminders. Halfstone Plus costs $5 a month or $48 a year and adds unlimited policies, the Renewal Review at every renewal, a shared household account for two people, and a downloadable one-page policy summary.

Halfstone Plus renews at the end of each monthly or yearly period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time from your account. After you cancel, Plus features stay available through the end of the period you paid for, and your account then moves to the Free plan.

Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. If a payment fails, we will let you know and your account may move to the Free plan until payment is made.

5. Your Documents and Accuracy

You choose which policies and documents to add, and you are responsible for having the right to upload them. Upload only documents for policies that belong to you or your household.

Halfstone reads figures such as premiums, deductibles, limits, and dates from the documents you upload. That reading may contain errors or miss a line. Check anything that matters to you against your carrier's documents, and correct any figure in your account that does not match.

6. No Commissions or Referrals

Halfstone earns money only from Halfstone Plus subscriptions. It receives no commissions, referral fees, or partner payments from insurance carriers, agents, brokers, or anyone else, and it does not place partner links or insurance offers in the service.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Halfstone website, including text, graphics, logos, icons, images, and software, is the property of Halfstone or its content suppliers and is protected by United States and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any content from this website without prior written consent from Halfstone.

The Halfstone name and logo are trademarks of Halfstone. Nothing on this website grants any license or right to use any trademark without the prior written permission of Halfstone.

8. SMS Messaging: Account Notifications Only

Halfstone operates an SMS messaging program strictly for account notifications related to your Halfstone account. Halfstone does not send promotional, marketing, or advertising messages via SMS. By enrolling in this program, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

Program Description: By opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated account notification text messages from Halfstone at the mobile number you provide, such as renewal reminders for policies you added, a notice that a Renewal Review is ready, Halfstone Plus billing and payment-failure notices, login and verification codes, and replies to a support request you started. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of creating an account or making a purchase.

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies.

Message and Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply.

Opting Out and Help: You may opt out of the SMS program at any time by texting the keyword STOP to [INSERT SHORT CODE]. After you send STOP, we will send a one-time message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent. Supported Carriers: Supported carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, Google Voice, Cellular One, Cellcom, Cellular South, Interop, and Clearsky. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Halfstone website and all services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Halfstone does not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components, and makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on the website.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halfstone disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Halfstone, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the website or services, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

In no event shall Halfstone's total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the website or services exceed the total amount paid by you to Halfstone during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the website or services shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah.

12. Changes to Terms

Halfstone reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.
